The theme of the object deals with the worship of the golden calf, the bull as a symbol for advancing stocks and the behavior of managers to ignore the existence of human beings beyond markets. The basics for the installation include 14 light-boxes arranged to a wall of 300 x 230 cm and an open bag stuffed with food for fattening the bulls. The light-boxes are showing the motive of the golden bull, which derives from the famous bull-sculpture in front of the Wallstreet building. The motive is sliced into pieces and printed on golden reflection backlight paper fixed on semi-transparent acrylic. The profoundness and radiance of the full screen is achieved by shaped contours transmitting a special shine through the motive. The background is kept in pink, thereby referring to the color of the Financial Times. The light-boxes are programmed to turn on and off randomly. At the end, all boxes are illuminated at the same time, though most of the time pieces of the whole image are missing..... |
